Last year, after The Prince and the Pauper was finished, the boys were suffering from Post-Production Syndrome. In an attempt to raise their spirits, they decided to hike from Rolla to our house, 20 miles. They let it be known to their friends that anyone was welcome to join them and about 20 brave (or foolhardy) people joined them. Pictures of that adventure are on the blog in May of 2008. Since they had so very much fun last year, they planned a different route, but the same 20 miles.
Over 50 people RSVPed, prompting Dawn Hall to suggest that next year the boys should have an official registration with T-shirts and a sign up fee. The boys took that idea and ran with it, designing the shirts late Monday night, emailing the design to a screenprinter in Steelville Tuesday (if you need shirts fast, we know where to get them), and picking the shirts up Thursday evening.
Friday morning was perfect, as was the whole day. This is the beginning of the route, as they left Amanda's house and traveled briefly along the outer road to I-44. They said every semi that they signaled honked for them.
