Gilchrist (Scottish for servant of Christ) is my maiden name, and for that and many other obvious reasons, I was very sorry to hear that the small town of Gilchrist, TX was completely swept away by Hurricane Ike (except for this lone, inexplicably intact house.)

I read that the previous house was wiped out a few years ago by a hurricane, the owners rebuilt in 2006 insisting that the builder construct it to stand up to a category 5 Hurricane. Apparently they were successful.
